LIVE BROWSER WORKSPACE

Plug in.
Stay in flow.

TR FLOW now runs in your browser. No native application download is needed. Your browser sends MIDI and SysEx directly to the TR-8S connected to your computer.

1. Open the studio

Use desktop Chrome or Edge over HTTPS. The browser must support Web MIDI with SysEx. Browsers without Web MIDI can still preview WAVs and save local projects, but cannot connect to the device.

Open TR FLOW ↗

2. Connect USB and allow MIDI

  1. Connect the TR-8S to your computer. Its normal MIDI and CTRL endpoints must be available to the operating system; use the appropriate Roland driver if needed.
  2. Click Connect TR-8S and allow MIDI + SysEx in the browser permission prompt.
  3. If automatic port selection fails, open MIDI connection settings. Choose the CTRL input/output for device editing and the normal music input/output for clock, notes and Program Change.
  4. Match the Pattern and Kit MIDI channels in Settings with the device. Enable Rx/Tx Edit Data and Rx/Tx Prog Chg as appropriate.

3. Build and perform

Drop WAVs on the pads or the Drag samples area. Open or drop MIDI files using GM/TR-8S drum-note mapping or sequential notes 36–46. Local Preview uses your own audio. Live edits send individual steps, and device step edits return to the GUI. Clock/SPP follow, variations, M/S, per-track lengths, velocity dragging, musical randomization and Undo/Redo share the same workspace.

4. Send straight to TR-8S

Use individual Send or Send kit. The browser performs the sample allocation, tone/PCM metadata and kit transfer sequence, with readback checks. Stop the machine when asked for multi-sample or whole-pattern writes. Keep the page open and the computer awake during transfer. A disconnect can leave a partial device transfer; the app reports failure rather than retrying the write blindly.

5. Save to your disk

Save project stores WAV PCM audio, your MIDI pattern and workspace settings in a .trflow file. Open project restores them locally; it does not automatically overwrite your device. Save/Open slots stores just device slot numbers and MIDI channels. Export .T8K remains available, and Copy to SD can use a browser-granted directory on a mounted card.

This is the first browser port of the native protocol. Automated tests use simulated TR-8S replies; real-device behavior and browser-specific SysEx throughput still need validation. The runtime uses serial requests and readback, and stops when a transfer cannot be confirmed.
